About Our Teacher

Vandana – Yoga Faculty of Bharathanjali:

Six years ago, Vandana began researching dancers’ rehabilitation and discovered that many dancers quit at their peak or see a decline in their performance quality due to injuries. She found that most dance classes do not emphasize warm-ups or additional strength workouts, which are crucial for injury prevention. This lack of preparation often leads dancers to sustain injuries that necessitate rehabilitation or force them to settle into teaching roles prematurely. Recognizing this gap, Vandana focused on developing specialized workouts that address the unique needs of dancers. These workouts are designed to build functional strength, improve flexibility, and enhance overall physical conditioning. By integrating her knowledge of yoga and dance, she created sequences that target the specific muscles and movements used in dance, helping dancers maintain peak performance and avoid common injuries. Her approach includes a comprehensive warm-up routine to prepare the body for rigorous dance activities and specific strength-building exercises that support the demands of various dance forms. Vandana also incorporates mindfulness and breath control techniques from yoga to help dancers manage stress and improve their focus. Through her tailored programs, Vandana aims to extend the careers of dancers by keeping them physically and mentally fit. Her work not only helps dancers recover from injuries but also equips them with the tools to prevent future issues, allowing them to continue performing at their best for as long as possible.
